Size/Dimensions: 45.0 cm
Gross weight: 62.8 grams
Provenance
This piece comes from the former collection of Zoe Vachell, who was born into a prominent Cardiff family that owned a large part of the city center and played a key role in its development. Her father, a solicitor and founder of Vachell & Co., instilled in her a deep connection to the legal profession. In 1933, she married Raymond Clifford-Turner, also a solicitor, whose career reached great heights, culminating in the merger of his firm with Coward-Chance in 1987 to form Clifford-Chance, one of the largest law firms in the world.

Likely designed for her wedding, this piece reflects the growing opulence of 1930s jewelry. Prestigious houses like Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels, while staying true to the geometric forms of the Art Deco style, introduced bolder and more imposing creations. The combination of diamonds and emerald beads in this piece perfectly exemplifies this shift towards a more dramatic aesthetic.
