拍品专文

This photograph, offically commissioned by King George IV and Queen Elizabeth to commemorate Princess Margaret's twenty-first birthday in 1951 became an instantly iconic image. Depicted at Buckingham Palace, she wears a gown designed by Christian Dior, which Princess Margaret wore at her birthday party at Sandringham, two months before the Beaton shoot. The gown, from Dior's 'Oblique Line' of Spring 1951 was donated by Princess Margaret to the London Musuem in 1968 and was exhibited at the Victoria and Albert Museum exhibition 'Christion Dior: Designer of Dreams' in 2019.
