Portrait of a gentleman:
The canvas is unlined, it is held under loose tension on the original stretcher. The canvas remains stable. Examination in natural light shows a slight mark where the canvas has been against the stretcher. There is some minor scattered paint loss to the background. There is some minor retouching to the background. Examination under UV light confims these observations. The modelling of the face remains crisp.


Portrait of a lady:
The canvas is unlined, it is held under loose tension on the original stretcher. The canvas remains stable. Examination in natural light shows a slight mark where the canvas has been against the stretcher. There has been some minor retouching to the brown of the background. There has been some minor paint loss with associated restoration to her cloak. The modelling of the face does not appear to have been touched. Examination under UV light confims these observations.
