拍品的状况可能存在极大差异,而由于其性质使然,拍品难以处于完美无瑕的状态。拍品均以拍卖时的状况出售。
The example with the fox drinking from a dish: Extensive very discoloured cream-coloured overpainting to the back of the stem, underside of the drip pan and base (this could be removed and redone to a higher standard). The loop stem handle is broken off and lacking and this is probably why the back of the candlestick has been heavily overpainted. Restored chipping to drip pan. Restoration to back part of base and part of underside and restored chips and break to rococo scoll edge of base at each side. Fox's right ear restored. Typical small chips and losses to flowers and leaves of bocage.
The example with the stork drinking from a bottle: Candle nozzle restored all around upper part and restored chips to drip pan. Nozzle detached from stem but slots into aperture. Broken through the centre of the group and restuck with associated restoration and overpainting through mid point of fox's body, the body, neck and legs of stork and to top section of vase. Fox's left foreleg restored and right ear restored. Pierced scroll section on left side of base (near stork) broken and restored. Upper part of handle restored. Typical small chips and restoration to flowers and leaves on base and bocage.
