The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
As catalogued, the frame has been re-gilt and with further small areas of retouching. There are the inevitable marks, scratches, knocks, chips, rubbing and wear to the gilding. Some areas of chips through the gesso revealing the timber below. Shrinkage, and old repaired cracks/restorations and replacements, to the carved frame including, but not limited to, the cresting. The top right spray with a 5 in. replacement and bottom third of apron carving replaced. A few localised areas of loss to the carving, including the tip of the cresting and one of the lower left scroll ends to the frame. The plates with the inevitable foxing and losses to silvering, small marks and scratches. The central plate a later replacement but probably don in the early 20th century with a 19th century plate. With minor losses to the silvering to the central lower left and bottom left of the plate. With inventory label '225.' A few small losses to the carving to the extremities.
