The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
We have sought to record changes in the condition of these pieces acquired after their initial manufacture.
One jar:
- A section broken and restuck associated with small losses and cracks.
- Some small chips/nicks/fritting to the mouth rim.
- A star-crack starting from the base and going up on the foot.
The other jar:
- Some chips to the mouth rim.
- A circa 30 cm. long C-shaped crack on the body.
Both jars:
- Both covers pierced with two holes, possibly to fit a mount now missing.
- There are a few small nicks, chips and fritting on the covers' rim.
- Some wear to the gilding.
- General age-related wear and scratches as can be expected.
