« Ce masque possède une très belle coiffe ainsi qu’un filet en tissu pour le cou, attaché au costume fait de fibres et de peau, porté par la personne masquée. Un danseur expérimenté danse avec le masque, tout en représentant une femme. Le costume imite donc aussi une poitrine féminine et la danse de l’homme masqué parodie gracieusement des mouvements féminins. […] L’utilisation de masques par des danseurs itinérants était largement répandue au sein de plusieurs groupes ethniques différents. Le masque, son costume et son attirail, étaient transportés dans un panier spécifique. La personne le possédant le conservait habituellement dans une maison mutenji en dehors du village, ou dans un panier dans sa propre maison. »

“This mask has an excellent traditional headdress and cloth netting for the neck, which is attached to the elaborate fiber and hide costume worn by the masker. A male expert dancer dances the mask, but it represents a female, hence the costume has also imitation female breasts and the dances of the masker imitate graceful female movements. […] The mask was widely used, among various ethnic groups by itinerant dancers. The mask, its costume and paraphernalia were transported in a special basket; it was usually kept by its owner in a mutenji house outside the village or kept in a basket in his own house.”
