« Le possesseur de cette hache en avait hérité de son père, qui l’avait lui-même obtenue au village Busangu (sur la route de Kamina à Bukama) - un village connu pour ses œuvres d’art importantes, notamment celles du sculpteur Kitolo. […] Pour la personne possédant cette hache, cet objet était investi de l’esprit de feu son père. Les haches des Luba sont des objets de prestige et de statut, mais elles sont aussi utilisées dans différents contextes de divination, de soins et d’initiation. »

“The owner had inherited the ax from his deceased father who had obtained it in Busangu village (on the road from Kamina to Bukama) - a village famous for its great artworks, including those of the sculptor Kitolo. […] For the owner the ax was consecrated to the spirit of his late father. Axes and adzes among these Luba are prestige and status items but they are also used by their owners in different contexts of divination, healing and initiation.”
