拍品专文

Born in Lyon, France, Jean Gabriel Eynard (1775-1863) learned the daguerreotype process in Paris in the nascent years of the medium. A man of considerable wealth, he pursued the daguerreotype for personal enjoyment and often photographed his family and home life in Geneva. The Beaulieu Manor, in Gilly, route de Genève 68, Switzerland, was renovated c. 1827 to include the neoclassical façade depicted in this daguerreotype.

Eynard’s work can be found in the collection of The J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles; and The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
