拍品專文

Philip Monson shifted his focus from portrait and miniature painting to photography in 1853, running a photography studio in Hertford, north of London, at one point in partnership with his brother Charles. That lasted until 1855. It is not known if the sitter in this extraordinary hand-tinted daguerreotype is Arthur Henry Salisbury, as the label on the verso seems to imply, or if it is from the collection of Salisbury, of "Limbrick Hall, Harpenden".
