According to Alastair Laing (written communication, 11 January 2023) this study by François Boucher, dated around 1750, is an adaptation of the head of the Virgin in the painting La Lumière du Monde (Lyon, musée des Beaux-Arts, inv. 1955-106; A. Ananoff, François Boucher, Paris-Lausanne, 1976, pp. 38-40).
