Le tableau est exécuté sur un panneau de chêne composé de trois planches jointes horizontalement. Le panneau est parqueté au revers. Le support reste stable.
À la lumière naturelle, on constate quelques retouches le long des jointures du panneau. Quelques retouches éparses ayant viré avec le temps sont visibles, notamment à l'arrière-plan et le long du bord gauche du panneau. Dans l'ensemble, les détails de la composition et les coloris sont bien conservés.
L'examen sous lumière UV confirme les observations ci-dessus. Il révèle que les retouches le long des jointures du panneau sont légèrement plus étendues qu'on ne l'avait supposé à la lumière naturelle. Il semble qu'il y ait une zone de retouche plus importante dans l'arrière-plan dans le coin supérieur droit, qui pourrait dater d'une campagne de restauration plus ancienne que les autres retouches mentionnées précédemment. D'autres retouches ont été apportées à certains éléments de la nature morte, notamment les raisins et les abricots. Le vernis a été nettoyé de manière non homogène. On constate des traces de vieux vernis sur le homard, l'assiette Wan-li et les abricots. La matière reste stable.

The painting is executed on an oak panel made up of three horizontally joined boards. The panel is cradled to the reverse. The support remains stable.
In natural light, some retouching can be seen along the panel joins. Some scattered retouching that has discoloured with time can be seen, notably in the background and along the left-hand panel edge. Overall, the details of the composition and the strength of colour remain well preserved.
Examination under UV light confirms the above observations. It reveals the retouching along the panel joins to be slightly more extensive than previously assumed. There appears to be a more extensive area of retouching to the background in the upper right hand corner, that may date from an older campaign of restoration than the other retouchings previously mentioned. There is further retouching to some of the still life elements, notably the grapes, and the apricots. The varnish has been selectively cleaned; there are traces of old varnish on the lobster, the Wan-li plate, and the apricots. The paint remains stable.
