Le tableau a fait l'objet d'un rentoilage. On constate un élément de toile au revers correspondant à une restauration à 20 cm. du bord droit dans la partie inférieure du tableau. Le support est stable.

A l'œil nu, le tableau possède une belle matière et préserve de jolis empâtements. On constate la restauration au niveau de la pièce de toile au revers et une restauration légère d'environ 13 cm. à approx. 13 cm. du bord droit dans la partie inférieure du tableau. On constate une restauration associée à une ancienne déchirure à environ 12 cm. du bord droit dans la partie supérieure. Le fond est un peu abrasé : on voit apparaître la préparation brune.

A l'UV, on constate les restaurations précédemment mentionnées. On constate une restauration d'environ 8 cm. sous la sardine et une zone de restauration dans les fonds à gauche de la composition. On ne constate pas d'autres restaurations récentes. Sous un vernis vert épais uniforme.

Dans un cadre de style italien XVIIe (approx. 70 x 87 cm.).

The painting has been subject to relining, it is held under tension and remains stable. There is a patch to the reverse of the canvas 20 cm. in from the right-hand edge in the lower half of the composition.

The painting presents very well in natural light, with the fluidity of execution well preserved.

There is an area of restoration to a scratch in the paint, corresponding with the aforementioned patch to the canvas. There is a restored tear of circa 12 cm. in the upper right-hand corner. There has been some thinning to the paint in the background, allowing the brown preparation to be seen in areas.

Examination under UV light confirms the above. There is an area of retouching beneath the sardine of approximately 8 cm. in length, and some retouching in the background to the left. The whole is under a thick, even varnish.

In an 18^th century Italian style frame (approx. 70 x 87 cm.).
