Le tableau a fait l'objet d'un rentoilage ancien, un peu sec, qui a pu tasser la matière picturale par endroits. Il est sur un châssis rapporté à clés.

A l'oeil nu, on constate des traces dans la partie supérieure, probablement dues à un ancien encadrement. On constate également des traces de frottement de cadre et de salissures dues à l'encadrement le long des quatre bords. Des petites griffures sont visibles dans la partie supérieure et des petits manques sont visibles dans les fonds. Le tableau est encrassé.

A l'UV, on constate d'anciennes reprises dans les fonds, notamment autour des traces dues à l'encadrement dans la partie supérieure (mentionnées ci-dessus) ainsi que des traces d'anciens repeints dans la partie droite du visage du modèle et dans quelques éléments du costume, notamment dans la manche droite. Le tableau est sous un vernis vert uniforme, épais, dissimulant d'anciennes campagnes de restauration.

Dans un cadre en bois peint (approx. 93 x 81 x 6 cm.).

The painting has been subject to quite a strict reline, it is held under tension on a keyed stretcher. The relining process has somewhat flattened the paint surface in certain areas.
There is some abrasion to the upper canvas edge, and some marks and dirt to the canvas edges, all the result of previous frame abrasion.
Small scratches are visible in the upper part of the composition and some minor scattered losses are visible in the background. The painting carries some surface dirt.
Examination under UV light reveals some restoration in the background especially around the marks caused by the frame in the upper quadrant. There is some further retouching to the right side of the sitter's face and in some elements of her clothes (her right sleeve for instance). The painting is under a thick, even varnish, which precludes further examination.
In a wood painted frame (approx. 93 x 81 x 6 cm.).
