Le tableau est sur sa toile d'origine. La toile a été retendue par des bandes de tension.

A l'oeil nu, on constate des manques dans les coins inférieurs droit et gauche au niveau de repeints. Le tableau est légèrement encrassé mais possède une jolie matière avec de jolis glacis, notamment dans les costumes des personnages et les animaux.

A l'UV, on constate trois fenêtres de nettoyage : une dans la chaumière, une dans les bottes du personnage endormi au premier plan, et une dans les chevaux au fond. On ne constate pas de restaurations récentes. Le tableau est sous un vernis vert épais (hors fenêtres de nettoyage).

Dans un cadre en bois et stuc doré (approx. 74 x 64 x 11 cm.).

The painting is unlined. The painting is held under tension thanks to strip lining.

To the naked eye, we can see some losses to the lower left and right edges, corresponding to repainted areas. The painting carries a bit of dirt but the paint material remains well preserved with nice glazes, especially in the figures costumes and the animals.

Ultraviolet examination reveals three small areas that have been cleaned: one in the cottage, one in the boots of the sleeping figure in the foreground, and one in the horses in the background. No recent restorations are noticeable. The painting is under a thick, green coat of varnish (except the three small afore mentioned areas).

In a giltwood and golden stucco frame (approx. 74 x 64 x 11 cm.).
