In natural light, a minor paint loss can be seen in the lower right corner, as well as a small dent in the lower part of the cistern. A fine network of craquelure is visible, mainly in the still-life elements. A restored area can be discerned to the center of the right edge. The painting is covered with a thick, dirty varnish that would benefit from cleaning.
The thick varnish prevents a more detailed examination of the work under ultraviolet light, though some retouching can be seen on the jug in the lower right corner.
