The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

Le tableau est exécuté sur panneau de chêne composé de deux planches horizontales, non parqueté. L'ensemble est droit et stable.
A l'oeil nu, le tableau a préservé une joli camaïeu de bruns.
On constate la jointure de planches susmentionnée sur toute la largeur de la composition à la hauteur du clocher de l'église.
On constate un amincissement des couches de matière supérieures. O constate également des retouches ponctuelles ayant légèrement viré. On constate de nombreuses retouches, legères, dans le ciel. Celles-ci ne gênent pas la lecture de l'oeuvre.
L'examen à l'UV confirme les observations susmentionnées et révèle au moins deux campagnes de restauration. Une plus ancienne, visible ponctuellement dans le ciel et le long du bord supérieur, et de manière plus importante dans l'eau et l'embarcation centrale ; et une plus récente, consistant en de nombreuses petites retouches, concentrée dans la moitié inférieure du ciel, suivant entre autres la jointure de planches susmentionnées.
La matière reste stable.

The painting is executed on an oak panel made up of two horizontally joined boards. The whole is flat and stable.
The painting has preserved a lovely range of brown tones. In natural light, the join between the two panels can be seen running across the full width of the composition, at the height of the church steeple. There is some thinning of the upper paint layers. Small, slightly discolored retouching is also visible. Minor scattered retouching can be seen in the sky, though these do not interfere with the legibility of the work.
Examination under UV light confirms the observations mentioned above and reveals at least two restoration campaigns: an older one, visible in small areas of the sky, along the upper edge, and more extensively in the water and central boat; and a more recent one, consisting of retouching concentrated in the lower half of the sky, and along the panel join.
The paint surface remains stable.
