Le tableau est peint sur un panneau de chêne biseauté. Le support est légèrement convexe mais stable.

A l'oeil nu, le tableau a préservé un joli modelé, avec des traces de dessin sous-jacent. On constate quelques retouches ponctuelles dans les carnations et dans le démon en bas à gauche.

A l'UV, on constate les retouches précédemment mentionnées dans le démon en bas à gauche ainsi que des retouches ponctuelles dans le ciel et d'autres retouches plus débordantes sur le vêtement (sur le vernis).

The painting is executed on panel beveled to the edges. The panel is slightly convex but remains stable.

The painting presents well in natural light, with the detail of the composition well preserved and some of the under-drawing visible. There is evidence of some scattered retouching in the flesh tones and the demon at lower left.

Examination under UV light confirms the above observations. There is further scattered retouching to the sky and some more recent retouching to the saint’s robes that appears to have been executed over the varnish layer. The paint remains stable.
