Sur piédouche bordé d’une monture feuillagée, le corps ovoïde taillé de personnages figurant un couple assis, un homme servant un verre de vin, un homme assis jouant du violon, un autre tenant un fruit et le dernier agenouillé devant un arbre embrassant les racines, le col en vermeil finement ciselé d’une scène de chasse au cerf sur fond de paysage boisé, au-dessus une frise d’entrelacs centrés d’une fleur, le bouchon à visse gravé d’une armoirie, apparemment sans poinçon

Les armoiries sont celles des Mohl de Silésie.

A SILVER-GILT MOUNTED CARVED-WOOD CASTING OR SCENT BOTTLE, APPARENTLY UNMARKED, POLAND OR GERMANY, CIRCA 1700
The ovoid body carved with figures featuring a seated couple, a man handing them a glass of wine, another playing the violin, another holding a fruit while the last seeming to be kissing the roots of a tree, the spreading base with foliate mount, the collar finely engraved with a stag hunt beneath a frieze of entrelacs, with detachable octagonal stopper engraved with a coat-of-arms acting as a seal, apparently unmarked

The arms are those of the Mohl of Silesia.
The scene carved depict a marriage in the Polish tradition with the presentation of the bread, symbol of abundance and prosperity.
B. Bramsen illustrates two somewhat similar German examples dated circa 1675 (in Nordiske Snusdasker pa europaeisk baggrund, Copenhagen, 1965, p. 114, nos. 252-253) and a further one, described as French or Dutch circa 1700, (op. cit., p. 53, no. 96).
