Eberlein's work records from August 1743 note 'Einen Arlequin, so einen Vogel in der Hand, neben sich einen Vogelbauer und eine Katze zu Fuessen hat' (a Harlequin, a bird in his hand, next to him a birdcage and a cat at his feet).
