The present work "is from the period when Nadelman fully realized his curvilinear system—even as the cubic rectilinear grid was first being explored by Picasso, Reminiscences of Classical sculpture pervade this abstract female form whose graceful movement is achieved by a disciplined structure of contoured lines."
