HELEN LAYFIELD BRADLEY (1900-1979)
Going Home
signed 'HELEN BRADLEY' and with a fly (lower left); inscribed and dated 'We were going home through the/back lanes behind Blackpool after/gathering holly and ivy. Christmas/would soon be here, and the day being/bright and clear, everyone, including/Miss Carter(who wore pink) and Mr Taylor/(the bank Manager) thought it a good idea/to get our decorations gathered together/in case it should snow again. The/rooms looked lovely with ivy trailed/across them and tied to the gas bracket/and every picture had its piece of holly/tucked behind the frame and in no time/at all it would be Christmas at Blackpool/with Dear Grandpa and the year was 1908/Helen Layfield bradley 1975.' (on the artist's label attached to the backboard)
