Overall good condition commensurate with age and use. The gilt bronze with very minor wear, faint surface scratches, minor nicks and abrasions, and scattered areas of light oxidation. The glass presents with minor surface irregularities, a few minute inclusions, and scattered minor air bubbles inherent in the making and not visually distracting. The glass with a few faint scratches and scattered cracks. With light soiling concentrated to the recessed areas. One book end with a vertical crack to the glass and loose at the joints to the base. The spindle with two cracks to the glass on the base and stem slightly bent out of alignment. The photograph frame with four panes with cracks to the glass; the central clear glass cover with a minor edge chip (approximately ¹⁄₂ x ¹⁄₄ in.) along the lower right corner, only visible upon close inspection when set in place; the proper left top corner with a minor break to the lead line along the reverse where it meets the photograph insert, slightly loose; the back panel with some resistance when removed. The inkwell with no glass insert, some more prominent scratches along the lid, and a minor spot of verdigris near the hinge of the lid. The pen rack with prongs bent very slightly out of alignment, not detracting from the function or overall appearance of the piece. The utility box with a minor crack to one shorter side panel and a consequential minute chip (approximately ¹⁄₈ in.); glass with scattered minute edge chips. The pen wipe without its brush. The letter rack with cracks throughout the glass; the middle panel with a loss (approximately 4 x ¹⁄₂ in.); and the back panel bent slightly frontward; with historic stabilization to the joints where the back panel meets the side panels. The calendar with some paper torn and missing some month inserts; the clear glass panel with minute edge chips. The rocker blotter with replaced paper; with minute abrasions and possible stabilization to the joints. Overall an attractive set.
