The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Overall very good condition with superficial soiling, wear and craquelure commensurate with age and material. With minor scattered surface irregularities including minute air bubbles, inherent to the manufacturing process. With minor losses to some edges, only visible upon very close inspection. The top tile with a hairline crack that has been historically restored running vertically throughout the tile, and a a small loss approximately 11⁄8 x 1⁄8 in. wide to the lower left edge. The lower tile with small chip to the bottom right edge, approximately 5⁄8 x 1⁄4 in. wide. The possibly original carved oak frame in good condition, with minor soiling and oxidation concentrated to the recessed areas. Christie's does not guarantee the condition of the frame. An impressive and historical piece, ready for display.
