The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Not examined out of frame. The canvas, stretcher and attachments appear to be in generally good condition. The edges of the canvas are covered by its frame. There is a fine layer of surface dust. There are minor cracks in places to the dark green impasto in the left half of the composition. There are some fine drying cracks in places, predominantly in the blue passages in the centre of the lower left quadrant. When examined under ultraviolet light, there is no evidence of any retouching. Subject to the foregoing, it is our view that the work appears to be in generally good condition.
