The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

(i) There is minor chipping to the upper right corner of the artist’s frame. There are minor paint losses in places to the artist’s frame. There is a superficial linear abrasion in the lower left quadrant of the image, only visible under strong raking light.
(ii) There are minor paint losses to the lower corners of the artist’s frame that appear to have been retouched. There are some further minor paint losses to the upper right corner of the artist’s frame. There are no apparent condition issues to the image.
(iii) There are minor paint losses to the artist’s frame, some of which appear to have been retouched. There appears to be a retouched abrasion the image in the lower right quadrant.
(iv) There is minor chipping to the lower right turnover edge and the upper left horizontal turnover edge of the artist’s frame. There are no apparent condition issues to the image.
(v) There are pinpoint paint losses to the left corners of the artist’s frame. There are no apparent condition issues to the image.
(vi) There is a minor chip with associated paint loss in the upper left corner of the artist’s frame and a minor paint loss in the lower right corner of the artist’s frame. There is a minor linear abrasion in the lower right quadrant of the image and a minor accretion in the upper left quadrant of the image, the latter only visible under strong raking light.
(vii) There are minor paint losses to the extreme edges of the artist’s frame. There are two superficial linear abrasions in the lower left quadrant of the image, only visible under strong raking light.
(viii) There are minor paint losses to the upper horizontal edge of the artist’s frame that appear to have been retouched. There are further minor paint losses to the corners and to the centre of the upper vertical edge of the artist’s frame. There is a linear abrasion in the upper right quadrant of the image, only visible under strong raking light.
(ix) There is some paint loss to the upper right corner of the artist’s frame. There are no apparent condition issues to the image.
Subject to the foregoing, it is our view that the work is in generally good condition.
