The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The canvas, stretcher and attachments appear to be in generally good condition. The canvas is slightly slack. There is some deformation to the stretcher bars in the upper corners. There is rubbing to the corners and edges with some associated paint loss. There are drying cracks to the white impasto with associated pinpoint paint loss. There are scattered hairline cracks to the black passages, predominately in the lower left quadrant. When examined under ultraviolet light, there appears to be no evidence of any retouching. Subject to the foregoing, it is our view that the work appears to be in generally good condition.
