ARTISTIC IMPRESSION OF PIONEER 11’S SATURN FLYBY, 1973-1995
Pioneer 11 was launched on April 5, 1973 and was the first human-made object to fly past Saturn. The purpose of this spacecraft was to take observations of Jupiter, specifically the polar regions and to take pictures of the Great Red Spot and Callisto. Pioneer 11 discovered Saturn’s outermost ring among many important findings, which is shown in Rick Guidice's impression.

Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Overall good condition with signs in keeping with the age of the print such as scratching to the recto. There is splatter staining on the left side of the image and also on the top left, extending into the margin. The bottom margin of the photograph has been trimmed at an angle although none of the image has been cut off, it is on the border. The verso is in similar condition where the stamp is very faded, there a green stain on the top left corner, pink staining just below it, and blue staining in the centre. There are also signs of orange spotting on the lower margin and there is brown residue on the right margin. Luckily, none of these can be seen from the recto.
