In a letter to Mrs. Hanns Schaeffer (26 January 1979), Heinrich Geissler acknowledges that this amusing drawing is reminiscent of certain works by Friedrich Brentel (for whom, see W. Wegner, ‘Untersuchungen zu Friedrich Brentel’, Jahrbuch der Staatlichen Kunstsamlungen in Baden-Württemberg, III, 1966, pp. 107-196), but cannot be attributed to him.
