Lot Essay

This drawing, which on stylistic grounds has been attributed to the French school, seems related to – perhaps inspired by – an engraving by Antonius Wierix after Ambrosius Francken (Hollstein's Dutch and Flemish etchings, engravings and woodcuts, 1450-1700, LXIV, Rotterdam, 2004, p. 16, no. 1142, ill.).
