This three piece panel remains structurally sound. The painting retains a good degree of stability and despite the natural ageing of the paint layer, particularly to the darker tones, the painting appears to be well preserved. There are some discoloured retouchings, such as to the edge of the proper left cheek of the sitter and to the proper right edge of the mass of hair. Ultra-violet fluorescence examination confirms these and shows some isolated areas of retouchings to the hair and strengthening to the background tones and to the drapery.
