This painting is executed on a panel comprised of a single board with a vertical grain. The paint layer is stable under a clear varnish. A fine network of craquelure is visible over the surface. In natural light an underdrawing is visible along the contours of Christ's face. Frame abrasions and associated repairs are visible along the extreme edges of the panel, but these are usually hidden by the rabbet of the frame. In raking light repairs to small losses and along the craquelure are visible. A further campaign using thin hatched strokes is visible across the surface, and fluoresces in ultraviolet light. Two unrestored insect holes are visible. The paiting presents well and can be hung in its present state.
