The wood panel is very slightly bowed in the upper half but stable and in a good state of perservation. Examination under raking light reveals that many of the artists fluid brushstrokes are still highly appreciable. With two small dents in the centre left of the panel and one stable repaired crack on the right border which required some retouching to part of the palm of St Francis's left hand. With a small scratch to the lower part of St Francis's habit. Close hand examination reveals only a few small flecks of discoloured retouching; inspection under ultra violet fluorescence confirms these. The painting is unframed and has a few minor nicks to the border as expected. Overall it is in very good condition.
