Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The canvas is unlined; it is held under tension and remains stable. There is a small puncture in the canvas to the upper left, in the background to the centre of the horn (as seen in the image). There are eight small scattered patches to the reverse of the canvas. The painting presents well in natural light, with the texture of the fur well preserved. Examination under UV light reveals some very minor scattered retouching, notably to the white of the background. The paint layers remain stable.
