The painting is on a panel support, made up of a single board. Framing batons have been attached to the vertical edges and the lower edge of the panel. The support is stable. In natural light the painting presents very well. The paint glazes are finely executed and remain stable. Examination under UV light reveals a passage along the bottom of the panel and up the right hand side that has an historic clean, with some associated minor scattered retouching. The remains of the old varnish can be seen on the rest of the panel. There is some further minor scattered retouching to the background.
