Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The circular oak panel has three batons to the reverse. There is a split of approx. 8 cm. in length to the sky, upper right, with associated losses to the paint surfaces. There is some surface dirt but the picture registers well and the wealth of narrative detail remains appreciable. There are some very minor losses to the paint surface at the edges of the panel. There is evidence of some discoloured retouching in the sky. Examination under ultra violet light is largely obscured by the opaque vanish layer but does confirm the aforementioned retouching associated to the sky.
