The painting is supported on the reverse with a glue lining. The paint layer is stable under a varnish that has discolored slightly with age. There is and overall network of craquelure, along which are tiny, pinpoint losses. Under natural light, small areas of retouching to the dark background, the flesh tones of her proper left cheek and earring, and along the lower edge are evident. The painting can be hung in its present state. The work is offered in a carved giltwood frame.
