Achilles mourning the death of Patroclus

The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The painting presents very well and is ready to hang in its present state. The canvas has a new glue relining and is secure on its stretcher. The paint surface is clean beneath a clear, fresh varnish. There are two very minor indentations to the surface in the upper section of the background curtain.

Inspection under UV reveals very minor retouching here and there, most concentrated in the white drapery but this has all been very finely applied.

The painting requires no further intervention and is offered in a decoratively carved gilt wood frame.
