The present openwork jade plaque features a dragon hovering above lingzhi-shaped clouds and sea-waves, set against a fretwork background.

Compare to a rectangular white jade openwork belt plaque, featuring a dragon under similar background, illustrated in In Pursuit of Fine Jades-Ming Court Belt Plaques, Hong Kong, 2018, pp.74-77, no.7.
