Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The canvas, stretcher and attachments appear to be in generally good condition. There is minor rubbing to the extreme edges in places, with some associated pinpoint paint losses. There are a few faint hairline cracks in places to the extreme corners, and another to the centre left, only visible under strong raking light. There are a few pinpoint paint losses in places, possibly process related and only visible under close inspection. When examined under ultraviolet light there are a few minute spots that fluoresce in a manner consistent with retouching in places, most notably to the extreme right vertical edge and lower left quadrant. Subject to the foregoing, it is our view that the work appears to be in generally good condition.
