Specialist Notes:

Italian artist Marcello Lo Giudice layers oils and colourful pigments on the canvas, creating textured paintings. Here, the viewer is presented with a bright blue monochrome abstraction, the result of the artist’s use of various painterly techniques, including scratching, abrasions and removals. With a background in geology, Lo Giudice explores the theme of beauty in our planet and the preservation of nature in his work. In his Eden series, Lo Giudice references the qualities of moving water: the vertical lines and the varying tones recall a flowing river and the shades that water can acquire depending on the ground and the light going through it.
