HAMILTON, Alexander (c.1757-1804). Partly-printed letter signed ("A Hamilton") to Jedediah Huntington as Secretary of the Treasury, [Philadelphia,] 2 March 1793.
 
One page, 235 x 188mm. (Mild toning and wear at margins.) Hinged to a mat; framed with an engraved portrait of Hamilton.
 
Hamilton acknowledges receipt of funds from the Port of New London. Specifically, "a paid draught of the Treasurer, No. 3867 of Oct 23 1792 Amount Five hundred dollars has been received rom you at this office." Jedediah Huntington (1743-1818) served as a General during the Revolutionary War commanding Connecticut troops. In 1789 George Washington appointed him Collector of the Port of New London, overseeing the collection of import duties along the Connecticut and Rhode Island coast.
