LE ROY, Henri (1579-c.1651). Imagines septem planetarum. [Paris,] Thomas Leu, [c.1606-1610].

Attractive suite of prints depicting allegories of the planets. Each of the seven prints depicts a different planet, being the five then known plus the Sun and the Moon, pulled across the sky in their chariot above a landscape filled with associated symbols and activities, reflecting the Renaissance vogue for astrological codes and conceits. The work is dedicated on the title page to Maximilien de Béthune, Baron de Rosny, Duc de Sully.

Folio (260 x 184mm). Engraved title-print and 7 allegorical engravings with engraved captions. Disbound, stab sewn with new thread (remains of glue at spine).
