Lot Essay

Interesting assortment of paper material related to the 1934 Tour of Japan, some of which has notations written in the hand of Moe Berg (no pieces are signed). Includes sheet of paper which has other smaller pieces affixed that are covered in Berg's handwritten notes related to learning of Japanese language. Baseball is mentioned; several newspaper/newsprint pages from Japan which were issued in the period and related to the Tour. One pictures Babe Ruth and another has caricatures of Ruth, Gehrig, and others; what appears to be a paper stock scorecard picturing participating players including Ruth (heavy wear/chipping/tears); November 1934 dated menu on sheet of paper; Oct. 1934 dated letter sent on Berg's behalf as a letter of introduction; later period photocopy of Tour schedule with some Berg handwritten notes; newsprint stock printed image of the American and Japan teams which has split in half and has chipping/missing portions and other wear; business cards which were presumably given to Berg while on the Tour; and additional Tour related paperwork including Japanese player roster, schedule pages (one of which has Berg handwritten notes), and some additional Japanese language pieces. Varying degrees/types of wear throughout with is significant in some cases: See description
