We have sought to record changes in the condition of these pieces acquired after their initial manufature. The larger pair: There is considerable age-related surface wear and glaze degradation to both Buddhist lions; one plinth has a triangular section of one corner missing measuring approx. 4 cm wide and the Buddhist lion is missing half of its tail and various other extremities including a lotus leaf, ends of its mane and a tassel; the glaze of the other Buddhist lion is less degraded but there are various scattered chips to extremities and to the base. The smaller pair of Buddhist lions: both have missing extremities to the lotus leaves encircling the apertures; one is broken in half and restuck to the mid-section and there is another crack to the lower body, and it is missing the section on which it rests its paw; the other is missing a section of a flower stem extending from its mouth and it has other chips and small losses to extremities.
