The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
In addition to the catalogue description:
- trimmed to or on the platemark at left and below, fractionally to or just into the subject at right, into the subject above (approx. 3 mm.).
- a small paper loss on and to the right of the left foot of the man (approx. 3 x 10 mm.), skilfully repaired and retouched with pen and ink.
- a few small paper losses and splits on and below the foremost piglet at centre right, skilfully restored, with some touches of pen and ink in places.
- the aforementioned piglet pricked for transfer.
- a few short repaired paper splits in the sky at upper centre.
- a short backed tear in the upper sheet edge to the right, and a few other tiny nicks at the sheet edges in places.
- some very pale red stray ink on the man's face.
- some pale scattered and unobtrusive foxing, a tiny brown stain on the roof at left and a tiny rust spot on the house at centre.
- other smaller defects.
- remains of old glassine and paper hinges at the sheet edges verso.
- some pencil inscriptions verso.
Otherwise as described, mounted and framed.
