拍品專文

Despite his lifelong fervor for both baseball and the Yankees, when Shore photographed the team during their spring training in Fort Lauderdale, he did not allow his own fandom to muddle his impartial gaze. Graig Nettles, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, March 1, 1978 depicts the famed third basemen without the dramatic heroism often imposed upon sports photography. Instead Nettles is fixed and centered in the batting cage in such a way that presents him as a statuesque form framed by a geometric composition of overlapping rectangular nets and posts on an extended proscenium of dirt.
