拍品专文

Together with his brother Oscar Jespers, Floris Jespers went to the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. After graduating, they both made their debut in the traditional art society, by participating in the salons and galleries with paintings and statues in an academic style. During his study and at the beginning of his artistic career the young Jespers was strongly influenced by Vincent van Gogh and Rik Wouters and also worked in the impressionistic style. In 1918 Jespers made a radical break with Impressionism and cubist elements appeared in his works in the early twenties. Although he would apply constructivist concepts and would occasionally paint abstract works, the figurative remained dominant in his oeuvre.
