Details
The vessel is modelled as conjoined ducks with a lotus leaf cover. Their heads are turned towards each other and there is an aperture to the side of one beak. It is decorated in shades of cobalt blue with their feathers and facial features finely detailed.

Paired mandarin ducks were a popular symbol of conjugal fidelity and marital happiness. A similar vessel is illustrated by C.J.A. Jörg, Chinese Ceramics in the Collection of the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, 1997, p. 35, no. 9.
