Lot Essay

Another Piedmontese table with similar tapering legs, elaborate stretcher, and pierced apron decoration sold from the Estate of Wendell Cherry, Sotheby's, New York, 20 May 1994, lot 72. A similar Piedmont table is in the Alcove Room of Carlo Emanuele II, and is illustrated in R. Antonetto, Minusieri ed Ebanisti del Piemonte, 1985, pls. 27 and 270.
